The True Definition of Confidential

The American Heritage College Dictionary defines confidential as:

1. Done or communicated in confidence; secret.
2. Entrusted with the confidence of another.
3. Indicating confidence or intimacy.
4. Containing secret information, the unauthorized disclosure of which poses a threat to national security.

Online are many more definitions such as entrusting one’s secret information or private affairs; done or communicated in secret and others.  The true definition of confidential with a drug treatment program is, well, that’s confidential, sorry.

Seriously, confidential treatment is the core and the success of many drug rehab treatment programs.  Addiction is recognized as a disease and one’s medical history is not shared with the public at large and neither would an addiction treatment.

Drug addiction does not happen to just the poor, the homeless, the projects.  It happens to every race, every culture, every age, every financial situation.  Perhaps the least likely discriminatory factor in life today, drug addiction will strike anyone, anywhere if it is allowed to try.
